Day 2 - Maine
Here's the rest of our day today since I only posted the sunrise this morning.
These are really nice glider rockers on our deck.
If you zoom in you can see the bird I was photographing in the water. He was swimming around and diving in the water for something to eat.
And this is where we ate breakfast.
Kim had to make an important phone call this morning so (sadly) I had to just wander around on the beach watching the tide come in. Such a hard life.
This guy kept turning his head right when I snapped the photo.
In case you're wondering why I'm taking so many rock pictures, it's because I'm trying to improve my rock painting. I may do a study in rocks: pencil, pen & ink, watercolor, who knows? ☺
If you remember the video from England where the water lifted up the rocks and they made a clicking sound as the waves receded and the pebbles fell back down. Here's another one only with larger pebbles. So fun to listen to it in person. Not nearly as neat in the video.
Just can't get enough of the crashing waves and tomorrow we head inland so this is it. 😞
We drove up the coast to Freeport. They were having a fall festival with hundreds of carved pumpkins.
thought this hedgehog was really good
Many of the trees have already lost their leaves, especially here along the coast but these were especially pretty. Hoping as we head to Vermont tomorrow, we'll see lots more color.
And we made it to Nunan's Lobster Hut today about 20 minutes before they opened. We were second in line.
This was their final day of the season and won't open again until next May.
Clam chowder and the standard Lay's potato chips, pickles and roll to go with the lobster.
They were having a special tonight. You could get the 1 3/4 lb lobster for the same price as the 1 1/2 lb. That's what Kim ordered but the larger lobsters are hard-shell and tougher. He said the tail was so tough he could hardly bite into it. As a matter of fact, the couple next to us complained about it and they didn't have to pay for it ($70 for the two of them).
I ordered the small one, 1 1/4 lb and it was delicious!!!
We didn't get back to the motel in time for me to catch the sun setting over the marsh, but hey, we were at Nunan's eating lobster.
That's all for today. Tomorrow will be from Vermont.
I love the clicking sound of the rocks. I’m sorry you had to suffer through all that peaceful surf watching. You weren’t kidding about 100’s of pumpkins! Wow. Some of them were amazing even on my phone. Such beautiful leaves. I hope you’re blessed full rich color as you head to Vermont. ~Kody
