Ludlow back to Weston
This is a better photo of Ludlow than the one I took. It was taken by Michele. She also took the animal pics below.
One of the hens at the Inn at Proctorsville.
And the sheep there.
The breakfast starter this morning was a chocolate hazelnut muffin.
It was followed by homemade granola with maple mascarpone and fruit.
and finally the main dish of stuffed waffle brulee and maple bacon.
We were dropped off at the Weston Priory to start our walk today.
One final photo of the group before we all head in different directions.
This is Helgar, our host at the Governor's Inn. He was a character.
He thought we needed a photo of our feet after walking the last three days. The West River
The Old Parish Church (1803)There were some incredible homes along the hike every day, most of which are vacation homes.
Sorry for all the birch tree photos, they are for my painting and if I put them in the blog I'll know right where to find them.
Speaking of birch, Kim peeled off this loose piece of birch bark and it curled around my hand. When I looked down it was a perfect pink ribbon.
Look Dianne...it's a 4-way intersection with a 3-way stop sign. Very unusual! And yes, I made the correct turn. 😁
Today's walk was just under 7 miles and was quite chilly to start. It was windy making it feel colder. Once again, it was all road walking, my least favorite thing. It's so hard on your feet and legs, and whoever said it was relatively flat, lied!
It only took about 2 hours to walk it but we stopped for a pitstop in Weston and I didn't pause AllTrails so the time shows 2 hrs and 24 min.
We left Weston and the Inn to Inn hike behind, and headed up toward Quechee Gorge, stopping to drive across this covered bridge and see the dam.
This is the only photo I took of the gorge. They were working on the bridge and there just wasn't a good place to take a photo. The shadow of the bridge covers most of the picture.
Next stop...King Arthur's Bakery and Shop.
It was past time for lunch so I had a cup of tomato basil soup. Kim had a sandwich. They were both very good. The only other thing I bought was a bag of their signature Almond Cloud cookies. They are gluten and dairy free and delicious! I also have the recipe. ☺
I watched a cooking class for a few minutes.Entering New Hampshire
The Connecticut River
Another covered bridge as we enter Jackson, NH, where we are staying tonight. I'll have to take a photo of the Inn tomorrow since it was too dark tonight.
After checking in, we drove down to get some supper at the Red Fox Bar & Grill. I had french onion soup and Kim had the clam chowder.
We are done for the day.
Final stats:
steps - 19,689
miles - 8.9

Thoughts on the Vermont Inn to Inn walking tour:
- It was great to meet new people.
- There was lots of food, some good, some not so good.
- All four Inns and Innkeepers were as different as night and day.
- The walking was 95% road walking (gravel and pavement) 😒
- The scenery was really nice and in places reminded me of Europe, probably because Vermont was settled by the Scots so stone fences, sheep, and some of the architecture was European.
- Having experienced self-guided walks all over Europe, I was hoping for some of the same here in the US. It was not and I'll just leave it at that.
Tomorrow we will drive to Manchester for an early flight home on Saturday.

Your pictures are just beautiful and the trip sounds like a dream! The fall colors are gorgeous. Love the covered bridges! Colleen
ReplyDeleteI just love all these pictures. It reminds me so much of our trips with Mother. Even though we weren’t walking. One of those Scots who settled in Vermont, was our oldest known ancestor, Mark Woods. (I believe) After coming to America, he immediately served in the War of 1812. Just a little family history for your blog
ReplyDeleteThe colors were beautiful
ReplyDeleteThe food looked delicious, and yummy

Glad you reloaded the videos. ❤️
ReplyDeleteAlso, forgot to mention, I love the birch and how cool that it wrapped itself into a perfect ribbon shape for October
Another beautiful day. The picture of the arched bridge over the stream looks so inviting, just makes me smile! The birch trees and the birch bark story, just WOW! Perfect ending to a colorful trip.
ReplyDeleteI think this is my favorite. So many beautiful pictures, especially the bridges.
